Welcome to the premier issue of Montage, TCU's online literary journal.
We're fortunate at TCU since we have a daily newspaper and a student magazine, but until now there was no outlet for creative writing. The only local creative writing publication was for the entire Fort Worth area, so student writers have been frustrated that there was no university arena to showcase their work - until now.
In February of this year, the English Department sponsored the Creative Writing Contest. Open to students from all majors on campus, they were asked to contribute submissions for different contests for various types of writing, not only creative pieces.
We could think of no better content for the inaugural issue than to include some of the contest winners. It was challenging to select the works to include in this issue.
If you would like to see a complete list of the winners, click here.In future issues we would like to showcase the creative works of not just contest winners, but all TCU students. For each issue of Montage, we will be asking all interested students to submit their creative works for consideration. The categories are poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. This is your opportunity to see your writing in print, so send in your poetry, short stories, and personal essays. All authors retain the rights to published material.
Submissions can either be e-mailed as text to montage@tcu.edu or sent on disk to the English Department, TCU Box 297270. For more detailed information and instructions click on Submissions on the left side of the screen.
I hope you enjoy this selection of poetry and stories.
Sincerely, Kristina K. Iodice
